Influences

One of the most apparent influences on Shakira's music are arabic music and dance styles, for an example in the song "Hips don't lie" She does an arabic influenced bellydance and the song also has an arabic feel to it. She has said in interviews that she seeks this influence to her arabic heritage. 

When she was younger she used to listen more to rock music, such as popular bands Led zeppelin, U2, The beatles and the Rolling stones.

She has named John Lennon as her number one influence and she thinks his song "Imagine" is the perfect song. 

 She has also mentioned being very fond of Bob Marley's song "No woman, No cry"
